About
I teach as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University in Scotland, in Children's Literature and the Nineteenth-Century Novel. I'm an active member of the British Society for Literature & Science and the International Gothic Association. I'm assistant editor (peer reviews) for Gothic Studies.
I’ve worked in various capacities at Edinburgh Napier University since 2001, including academic quality enhancement and lecturing in English literature. I’m also currently a student adviser for the Edinburgh, Lothians, Fife & Borders Regional Articulation Hub.
My doctoral research was a study of the fiction of fin-de-siecle/ Edwardian Gothic/ horror/ SF writer William Hope Hodgson. I am at work on a monograph proposal, provisionally titled William Hope Hodgson: Weird Science Fiction, which explores the development of science fiction at the fin de siècle through its relationship with the weird in Hodgson’s fiction.
